About MeHAF >
Community Advisory Committee
MeHAF has a 19-member statewide Community Advisory Committee (CAC). Committee members provide guidance and professional expertise to the Foundation’s operations. The founding members of the CAC were selected by the Maine Attorney General after soliciting broad public input. Candidates for the CAC are now reviewed by MeHAF’s Board and CAC Development Committee and nominations are approved by the Board of Trustees.
Committee Charge
The CAC is charged with guiding the Trustees in the conduct of a periodic needs assessment and any other issues relating to the activities of the Foundation. The CAC’s initial charge was to solicit appropriate nominees for the first Board of Trustees. CAC members may be candidates to serve on the Board of Trustees when a vacancy occurs.
MeHAF Participation
Members of the CAC actively participate as members of the Foundation’s committees, including the Committees on Grants, Finance, Strategic Planning, and Board and CAC Development.
QualificationsThe CAC includes broad, state-wide representation. The Foundation’s by-laws state that two-thirds of the CAC membership slots be reserved for individuals who represent the interests of the medically underserved and uninsured populations within the state and at least one-third of the members have established expertise in health care with respect to access for medically underserved and uninsured persons. The CAC members serve staggered terms of office, with approximately one-third of the terms expiring each year. Questions about the CAC may be referred to Kim Crichton, Program Officer, at (207) 620-8266, ext 103 or kcrichton@mehaf.org.
Board/CAC Application Form
Individuals who are interested in working with the Foundation are encouraged to nominate themselves or any other Maine resident for service on the CAC or Board. If you are submitting a nomination on behalf of another person, please make sure the nominee has consented to be a candidate. Please indicate whether this nomination is for the Board of Trustees, the Community Advisory Committee, or either group. If you select consideration for both the Board and CAC, the nomination form (
pdf format) will be reviewed with the understanding that the candidate would be selected to serve on one or the other and would not be allowed to indicate a preference, once selected.
