Fund for the Future
MeHAF's Fund for the Future pilot funding initiative focuses on improving
the health of Maine people at a community level in ways that extend
beyond direct health care delivery.
MeHAF views the Fund as a laboratory to seed new ideas, frame new approaches, and foster new relationships.
|
Research
has demonstrated that as little as 10% of an individual's health is
influenced by direct health care delivery, while up to 70% is
influenced by factors that reside in the environmental, social, and
economic conditions of a community. |
Three community projects were funded in 2009. Three additional community projects will be selected
in a second round in the Summer of 2010.
Public Comment
The founding principle of the Fund for the Future is to
support projects that help people to be healthier in new, creative, and
sustainable
ways. MeHAF and the applicants want to tap the collective wisdom and
experience of Maine people about similar or previous work to improve
the success of funded projects. We will continue to seek public input
on the Letters of Interest for those applicants invited to submit full
proposals. However, based on feedback and learning from our first
round, we are re-examining how to use social media tools most
effectively as a means to gather grassroots input.
2010 Funding Opportunity
Does your community

Are you an organization whose work does not have a direct focus in
health care, but could be considered health-related? Do you have a promising project already
underway that could increase in scale and scope or add community partners?
