At its May 8 annual meeting, Maine Family Planning (MFP) announced that MeHAF President and CEO, Dr. Wendy Wolf, had been selected to receive the prestigious Sherry & David Huber Award. Dr. Wolf was selected for this award based on her long-standing service and commitment to promoting access to women's family planning and reproductive health services, particularly for those Maine women who are uninsured and living in low-income families.
The Sherry & David Huber Award was established by MFP’s Board of Directors over 20 years ago to acknowledge the couple's commitment to promote family planning and reproductive health services. As members of the Maine State Legislature, David Huber served as Republican Co-Chair of the Joint Standing Committee on Appropriations while his wife, Sherry, was a member of the House of Representatives. Together, they helped guide the passage of the Family Planning Services Act in 1986. This act has provided financial support for family-planning services for low income women and teens for the last 30 years.
