More than 44,000 Mainers sign up for health insurance through the Marketplace

More than 44,000 Mainers sign up for health insurance through the Marketplace

After a bumpy start October 1 and strong surge in the last month of open enrollment ending April 15, the government reported that 44,258 Mainers enrolled in a health plan through the federally-run Marketplace at healthcare.gov, far surpassing expectations. What a great testament to the work of Maine’s network of certified assisters – including, especially, MeHAF’s Health Reform grantees – as well as volunteers and brokers statewide who helped Maine people make sense of their options and sign up.

Dr. Wendy Wolf, MeHAF’s President and CEO, said, “Maine is always a can-do state. We do a lot with so little and this is an example of where neighbor helps neighbor to a degree that I didn’t think, frankly, we’d achieve. But we did.”
