Representatives from enroll207.com seek to build awareness that affordable plans are still available for 2017
After the first full month of open enrollment on the Health Insurance Marketplace, more than 15,000 Maine people have enrolled in affordable health plans. Individuals and families only have until January 31, 2017 to enroll in a health plan on the Marketplace and those who help people to enroll are concerned that there may be uncertainty about the availability of affordable plans and tax credits.
“Maine’s Health Insurance Marketplace is absolutely open for business,” said Morgan Hynd, a Program Officer at the Maine Health Access Foundation (MeHAF), the organization responsible for enroll207.com. “The recent presidential election caused some confusion about whether people could still sign up for health insurance and get tax credits. The answer is yes, the Marketplace is still offering quality, affordable health plans with tax credits for Maine families for 2017 and there are still certified assisters in communities all across the state who provide free, in person help with the enrollment process.”
Enrollment assister, Lisa Mele, a ClaimAid Patient Resource Advocate at PenBay in Rockport, has helped hundreds of patients sign up for health insurance through the Marketplace. She says, “Their joy is my joy, their frustration, my challenge.” Mele is just one of many assisters around the state who works to put patients first and supports them in selecting a health plan that meets their family’s needs. Mainers can find free, in-person assistance near their town by visiting enroll207.com/locator and using the zip code search tool.
“Maine families rely on quality coverage to stay healthy and to ensure financial stability,” said Barbara Leonard, MeHAF’s CEO. “That’s why it is so important for people to know that the Marketplace is open and is offering affordable health plans for 2017.”
Open enrollment on the Health Insurance Marketplace closes on January 31, 2017. Visit enroll207.com for more information, or to contact a local assister today.
