MeHAF Releases Information on MaineCare

The Maine Health Access Foundation (MeHAF) announced the release of new fact sheets that provide important information about MaineCare, Maine’s Medicaid program.  The fact sheets provide general information about the program and the impact the program has on specific populations.

MeHAF identified the need for clear, factual information about the program and the importance it has in keeping thousands of Maine people healthy and productive.  MaineCare covers a third of Maine’s children and ensures a healthy start for 43% of children born in Maine.  The program also covers 50,000 seniors in Maine, helping them to stay in their homes with important long-term services and supports.  “Beyond the vital role this program plays in ensuring health care for so many people in Maine,” said Barbara Leonard, MeHAF President & CEO, “it is critical to the financial health and stability of hospitals and other health care providers, and Maine’s economy as a whole.”

MeHAF worked with Manatt Health Solutions, a New York-based consulting firm with nationally recognized expertise in Medicaid, to develop the fact sheets.  MeHAF previously worked with Manatt in 2015 to develop a report on the estimated state budget impact of a MaineCare expansion.

The Maine Health Access Foundation (MeHAF) is Maine’s largest, private, nonprofit health care foundation dedicated to promoting access to quality health care, especially for those who are uninsured and underserved, and improving the health of everyone in Maine.  MeHAF uses its grant resources and expertise to identify and move forward key initiatives and issues to improve Maine’s health care system so people across every region of our state have access to quality care for better health.
