Initiative-based Grants
There are no initiative-based grant opportunities open at this time.
Three major priorities frame MeHAF's major grant funding and related programs. This approach involves periodic competitive grant awards, as well as analytic efforts, such as environmental scans, research, and staff outreach. To read about priority areas and current initiatives, please refer to our funding priorities.
Discretionary Grants
Applications for Discretionary Grants are accepted on an ongoing basis for small projects or limited activities such as meeting and convening support, research and planning efforts, surveys, targeted studies, or minor equipment purchases. Awards are typically under $5,000 for most projects and under $2,000 for meeting and conference support. However, awards may be granted for the maximum of $10,000 for highly strategic activities or statewide programs. Please review the information and criterion outlined on the website, then call to discuss your project or idea with Barbara Leonard at (207) 620-8266, ext. 102.
Foundation-initiated Grants
Important opportunities that will advance MeHAF's mission do not always occur sequentially nor when the Foundation has a relevant competitive major grant cycle open. To support innovative, unique and strategic opportunities that can substantively advance our mission, MeHAF will consider requests for a Foundation-initiated grant. Projects funded through this mechanism typically involve statewide activities and broad-based partnerships or multi-organization collaborations as well as substantial involvement of Foundation staff in the shaping of the project. Projects must leverage MeHAF and resources from other sources to promote system-level advances in access to health care and improvement in health for people in Maine who are uninsured and underserved. If you are interested in this funding opportunity, review the information outlined on the website, then call to discuss your project or idea with Barbara Leonard at (207) 620-8266, ext. 102.
