Green Eggs and Ham… and Kale
Good food and good books were delivered together weekly over the summer into five Sedgwick neighborhoods that house families well known to local school librarian, Margaret Bixby. "The Magic Food Bus" played a pivotal role in Healthy Peninsula's Good Food Project, funded through MeHAF's Fund for the Future program in 2011. Delivering fresh produce to lower income neighborhoods, with recipes and preparation tips, along with library books to promote summer reading made it easy for families to try new foods without a special trip to a farmers' market or other, less convenient places.
