Access for All

 

Since the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was signed into law in 2010, MeHAF has supported a group of dedicated nonprofits who have worked collaboratively to develop straight-forward, consistent messages to help inform Maine people about the benefits of the law.  With the opening of the Health Insurance Marketplace in 2013, this network of community-based and statewide organizations was instrumental in helping enroll over 84,000 people in comprehensive, affordable coverage through the Marketplace.

Since 2010 our focus on Outreach, Education and Enrollment has included the following:
  • Grants:  Multi-year competitive grants currently support a diverse coalition of nonprofits to conduct outreach, education and enrollment of Maine people in the ACA Health Insurance Marketplace. (relevant press release)
  • Technical assistance and grantee support:  Working with Portland-based Burgess Advertising & Marketing, MeHAF has supported a Marketplace public education and marketing campaign for the first two years of the Marketplace. The enroll207.com website is widely used by grantees, consumers and enrollment assisters to connect people with the help they need and to locate assistance resources in their communities.
  • Sharing what we’re learning:  MeHAF regularly shares reports, case studies, news items, blogs, and video clips about the Marketplace campaign and the works of grantees.  Just use key word search to find items related to “ACA” or “enroll207.”
  • Evaluating our work:  MeHAF conducts an annual statewide survey to evaluate changes in coverage and care that can be benchmarked to national data.  We have also conducted public polling to measure awareness and public attitudes about the Marketplace.  Visit Learning & Resources for more information.
